Daughters of the Utah Pioneers 12" Replica

This statue is an exact replica of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Monument dedicated by President James E. Faust in Salt Lake City. Every attention to detail was made in preserving the emotion which the original monument portrays.

The statue shows a mormon pioneer mother taking her young boy and "pressing forward" after glancing back at the grave which holds her infant daughter. The young boy, now thrust into manhood, tightly clasps a hat which is far too large for him. It is his fathers which passed away earlier in the journey after sacrificing his own health for the preservation of his family and the gospel.

This piece shows the hardship which the Latter-Day Saint women bore as they crossed the plains. At the same time, it depicts the will and fighting spirit to press forward, while never forgeting the trials they bore.
